| Shane D. Durgin joined Alpha Coal West in 2001. He holds the position of Operations Manager with Alpha Coal West with operations management responsibilities for Alpha’s Foundation’s two surface coal mines in the Powder River Basin.
Prior to becoming Operations Manager, Shane held the position of Engineering Supervisor and Technical Services Manager for Alpha Coal West. However, Shane began his mining career in the hard rock mining business fulfilling various Operations Management and Engineering roles with Pegasus Gold and Apollo Gold. Shane received his BS in Mining Engineering from South Dakota School of Mines in 1986.
Shane’s interest in the Challenger Center is based around his interest in enhancing the Community of Gillette’s education and overall quality of life opportunities for children and adult’s alike.
Shane lives in Gillette, WY with his wife Jo, and his two boys Brady and Ian.
